Provides group and individual instruction of diabetes self-management care and education in urban/rural setting.
Conducts initial and follow-up assessments for program participants, patient record-keeping, and program evaluation in accordance with American Diabetes Association recognition.
Assist Coordinator in Wellness Education Program.
Serves as a preceptor for TAMU-K Dietetic Interns.
Assists Coordinator in development and implementation of educational programs with a focus on nutrition.
Serves as a member and attend meeting of the Diabetes Education Center's Advisory Committee.
Participates in health fairs, in public speaking engagements.
Coordinates and plans grocery educational tours and cooking demonstrations and performs related work as required. Stays well versed in new trends of evidence-bases practice in the area of diabetes and makes recommendations.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of related experience in administrative dietetic programs and processes.
Master's Degree; Registered Dietitian
Two (2) years’ experience as a Registered Dietitian
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- State License and American Dietetic Association Registration and License (RD/LDN) or ability to obtain within 90 calendar days from date of hire. Certification must be maintained as a condition of employment.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
- Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Work beyond normal offices hours and/or work on weekends.
This position is required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, in accordance with System policy; and further required to complete HIPAA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable timeframe after employment, and on an as-needed basis thereafter.
Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to speak English and Spanish.
Security-Sensitive position and finalist subject to a criminal history background check. Verifiable good driving record and reliable transportation. Strong ability to work with diverse low-income population.
