Summary: The Make Ready Detailer is a representative for the dealership and must represent the dealership in a professional, friendly manner at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Including but not limited to:

  • Using a variety of cleaning products

  • Using a variety of cleaning equipment

  • Maintain detailing equipment to ensure proper performance

  • Performs service wash after vehicle repairs have been completed

  • Cleaning and detailing engine compartments when needed

  • Maintains a clean and organized work area

  • Follow verbal and written work instructions

  • Efficiently work and keep company minimum standards

  • Vacuum entire vehicles to remove dirt and debris

  • Clay, wax, and polish vehicles when complete details are needed

  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure required detail work on vehicles are completed on time

Sales Department Duties:

  • Place cars in front of showroom for display each day

  • Inspect vehicles in showroom for cleanliness; this includes interior as well as exterior (door panels, trim panels, wheels, spots)

  • Confirm each showroom vehicle has the correct Monroney on display with the stand under one of the front wheels

Make Ready for Delivery:

  • Wash, detail and wipe down new and pre-owned vehicles carefully for delivery

  • Inspect each vehicle after detail in outside lighting to ensure vehicle is ready for delivery

Make Ready New Inventory:

  • Wash and inspect all new car inventory and report any issues noticed on vehicles to manager

  • Fill out make ready sheets and make a key tag for each key

  • Bring books and loose accessories to New Car Manager office

  • Create folder with cover sheet and place in cabinet in New Car Manager office

Pre-owned Inventory Preparation:

  • Removal and destruction of registration sticker and license plates, install new license plate frames as required

  • Complete attached form for each unit

  • Bring vehicle to New Car Manager for final inspection before it is put on the line

Inventory Maintenance:

  • Maintain log sheet noting dates when the lot vehicles are cleaned

  • Make sure selling lot looks good at all times and that vehicles are parked together lined up properly

  • Maintain cars on both new and pre-owned lot so that they are clean inside and out, ensuring they are ready to sell on a daily basis

  • All pre-owned cars must have window sticker and Buyers Guide on dash visible to customers

  • All new cars must have Monroney on dash visible to customers

  • Make sure all new cars have a full tank of gas

  • Maintain a half tank in pre-owned vehicles: fill the car to half tank on the same day that the car is put into inventory by the Sales Manager

  • Rotate inventory at least once per week, making sure tire pressure monitors are not displaying low pressure and report any issues such as check engine light, oil warning light,etc.

  • At a minimum, each unit for sale must be washed once per week

  • Wash and dry vacuum inside

  • Complete wipe down of dash, door panels and cup holders

  • Clean inside and outside windows with cleaner/wipes

  • Wash wheels and tires thoroughly

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma.

  • Must have excellent public speaking skills.

  • Must havegoodcomputer skills in Word, Excel,and Power Point.

  • Must have valid drivers' license and must be able to pass MVR.
