Job Role Summary

ExxonMobil is currently seeking qualified candidates for a First Line Supervisor – Mechanical Electrical – at its future Gulf Coast Growth Venture site located in the Gregory, TX area.

This position will be responsible for mechanical support during the safe, reliable, and environmentally sound commissioning and start-up of a new manufacturing facility. The position is responsible for the safe execution (Safety, Quality, and Efficiency) of all Electrical activities as required to support the maintenance of the facility. The job will involve time training in the Houston area and travel to other company locations for activities and reviews.

Important Consideration for Candidates :

Candidates should apply if they are willing and able to 1) accept an initial temporary assignment at the ExxonMobil campus located in the Houston area for knowledge attainment of ExxonMobil procedures and systems, 2) accept a subsequent permanent assignment at the future Gulf Coast Growth Venture facility at the time of startup or when requested, 3) live in temporary housing while temporarily assigned to the Houston area with some financial living assistance from ExxonMobil and 4) work for a Company that values strong job performance with periodic performance assessments.

Job Role Responsibilities

Primarily responsible for:

  • Supervision of Electricians

  • Leadership for the Site Safety Program and responsible for assignment of Operations Integrity Management roles/responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountable for the safety of assigned work groups

  • Develop, update, and effectively communicate both Site and Maintenance standards and procedures

  • Support development of commissioning and start-up plans including electrical procedures

  • Oversee employee performance on electrical tasks including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance tasks, optimization, repairs, and new installation activities

  • Steward contractor execution of maintenance PM’s and repairs

  • Steward contractor productivity and execution of their Safety Program and Quality Assurance plan

  • Monitor schedule and cost during execution phase

  • Participate in planning and constructability reviews of projects

  • Interface with Management to ensure accurate representation of execution plans

Job Requirements

  • Must have extensive knowledge and experience (minimum 5 years) in Electrical in the petrochemical industry (chemical plant, refinery, etc.)

  • Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated leadership skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to electrical safety, strong troubleshooting skills, decision making skills, problem analysis and conflict management skills, particularly in pressure situations

  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with direct reports, peers, and different levels of management, both verbal and written

  • Must be able to work in a team environment and lead a diverse workforce

  • Understanding of resource planning and resource allocation techniques

  • Ability to understand, control and drive optimization of multi-craft mechanical work

  • Key competencies include initiative, innovation, interpersonal skills, results oriented, flexibility, safety focus, and a drive for continuous improvement

  • Experience with the following is desired:

  • Power Distribution Switching (138 kV systems and below)

  • Medium Voltage Switchgear troubleshooting and repair

  • Electrical Testing (PDMA, Hi-Potential, Insulation Integrity, Partial Discharge etc.)

  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, and applicable OSHA standards

  • Transformer Maintenance & Testing

  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s)

  • Uninterrupted Power Sources (UPS systems)

  • Protective Relay Testing

  • Auto-Transfer schemes

  • Infrared Testing on Motor Control Centers (MCC’s)

  • Electrical Area Classification
